Since its launch in 2012, the ONI Secret Denim series has long been one of the brand's best-selling styles.

Exclusively developed by Mr. Oishi, the principal of ONI, the biggest feature of Secret Denim is the solid and soft 20oz special fabric, which is woven with three different cotton yarns, bringing a very strong sense of fluff and slub.

The warp yarn is dyed with deep indigo rope, and it is matched with beige weft yarn to create a very contrasting fabric. When the yarn is completely absorbed by the indigo dye, the color will show a wonderful gradation after coloring, and the development is relatively fast. , You can see obvious color fading changes in a short time.

ONI 622 Fit

The ONI 622 jeans fit is described as a relaxed tapered cut with a medium-low rise. It features roomy hips and thighs for comfort, then tapers strongly from the knee down to a narrow hem. The fit offers a modern silhouette that is flattering yet comfortable, suitable for various body types. It is not a vintage fit but more of a contemporary relaxed taper. 

How much does ONI 'Secret Denim' stretch in the waist?

Typically 2 inch ~ 5cm in waist circumference. Basically you can expect them to stretch one size more than other Japanese jeans brands. If you have a tummy / belly, go for a safe size. If you’re lean in the stomach, go for a more fitted one.

Go up at least 2 sizes from major US brands. Usually the same or go down 1 size from other Japanese brands.

"The Rebirth of Secret Denim"

In truth, ONI has produced three different versions of Secret Denim over the past decade. After the first version gained extreme popularity, its yarn supplier unfortunately went out of business following a devastating fire caused by a natural disaster. For a long time, it was believed that the original texture of the first Secret Denim could never be recreated.
   
As a result, the versions of Secret Denim ONI produced for quite some time were not made using the "original formula."

But in 2024, Mr. Oishi managed to find a new yarn supplier capable of spinning yarns that closely resembled that of the original. Thanks to that, the mysterious character of Secret Denim was finally brought back to life, letting us once again experience the magic that made it a sensation in the first place.
