UES | Made in Japan Clothing
UES is a Japanese heritage brand founded in 1967 as a baby clothing manufacturer, later evolving into a denim and workwear label renowned for timeless, durable garments designed to be worn extensively until they are completely worn out.
The brand name “UES” is derived from the English words universal, ethical, and sustainable.
Owner Chuji Matsumoto was born into a garment manufacturing family and deeply influenced by that background throughout his life. UES is dedicated to utilizing traditional Japanese techniques, antique shuttle looms, and rare cottons—all made entirely in Japan. Their denim and garments develop a unique character through wear and time, symbolizing each wearer’s personal journey. UES emphasizes low-waste production, long product life, and repair services, celebrating clothing that ages beautifully and endures beyond seasonal trends. This philosophy appeals to those who value craftsmanship, timeless style, and durable workwear and denim pieces.
