M43 Boots Style 

The M43 (TYPE III) service boot stands out as the most popular in the U.S. Not only was it the most widely produced and distributed, but its exceptional comfort and design quality have set a standard in modern boot manufacturing. Historically, the U.S. enlisted numerous medical researchers to enhance shoe comfort, a practice that fundamentally shaped the approach to boot design. This tradition of medical research enhancing footwear comfort has been carried into the design of the "Escape II".

This pair of rough-out boots is crafted from premium leather in a one-piece, unlined construction, stripped of anything unnecessary. Inspired by vintage service boots, it features a “no toe box” build, giving the front a softer, more natural feel on the foot. This particular shoe last will develop a vintage atmosphere after worn-in.


At the same time, the slightly lower instep and narrowed arch provide an exceptional fit that speaks to the skill of experienced craftsmen. Each pair is carefully made by hand, the work of artisans who have devoted their lives to shoemaking.
Although it’s built on the same last as the HENRY model, we recommend going up half to a full size compared to your usual HENRY size.

The leather comes from Nakamura Sennosuke Shoten, a tannery with over 100 years of history, known for its top-grade, full-grain suede. Richly tanned and thick yet supple, it offers a velvety nap and develops a beautiful patina over time.

This type of full-grain suede, with its slightly raised texture, reveals unique creases and depth of character the more you wear it—qualities you won’t find in smooth leather. Its evolving color and feel only get better with age.

Sizing

This model is a stylish advancement from the original Escape, sharing the same last as the HENRY. For those who own the HENRY, we recommend taking the same size or sizing up by half for comfort. Or a full size to allow additional cushion.
