【Far East Manufacturing】FEM-001 Utility Pants
Description
The FEM-001 is a Japanese-made pair of work pants from FAR EAST MANUFACTURING.
Inspired by U.S. military utility trousers from the 1940s to the 1970s, this style is commonly known as Baker Pants or Fatigue Pants.
The FEM-001 recreates the deep rise and straight-leg silhouette of mid-1960s military utility pants, while refining the fit pattern for modern wear.
The pants are made in Japan by a specialized manufacturer, offering the same level of durability expected from military and workwear garments.
The Back Satin Fabric
The FEM-001 is made from a 100% cotton back satin fabric developed specifically for FAR EAST MANUFACTURING.
The fabric is woven to a balanced density, giving it a substantial handfeel without being too heavy.
The back satin fabric is vat-dyed for strong colorfastness against washing and sunlight. Rather than fading quickly, the color is designed to soften gradually with time and use.
This helps retain the underlying olive tone and creates a more natural aging process.
The Fit
The rise is made intentionally deeper, mirroring the high-waisted proportions of vintage military trousers.
The thighs are cut with comfortable room, while the leg falls straight from the knee to the hem.
The custom length options give customers the opportunity to style these pants from the perfect starting point. To Hayashi-san, ankle-length pants are ideal for the modern city lifestyle, giving the outfit a clean look.
While the straight fit works well with today’s trends, we believe it will remain a classic staple even after wide pants trends fade out.
“After 40 years of working in Kojima, Japan, the heart of vintage garment manufacturing, Hayashi-san has built the experience and connections needed to create some of the best reproduction fabrics in the country.
What makes his work different is his approach to fit interpretation. With his background in founding Denime and RESOLUTE, and after spending so many years working in the field around the world, Hayashi-san developed a clear understanding of what looks good on people from different countries and with different body types.
That is what makes RESOLUTE and FEM stand out for us.”
