MOMOTARO
【MOMOTARO】#003 STANDARD DENIM JACKET 14.7oz TYPE III
Description
Momotaro Jeans' standard line uses 14.7oz TOKUNO BLUE selvedge denim, a proprietary mid-tension fabric renowned for its deep indigo warp dye and textured handfeel.
Made from 100% organic Zimbabwe cotton (hand-picked for long staple purity), this sanforized raw denim features TOKUNO indigo-dyed warp threads with natural weft for vibrant highs/lows fading, minimal shrinkage (<1%), and balanced rigidity that softens beautifully over time.
Standard Selvedge Denim
The latest Momotaro Standard 14.7oz fabric uses denser and finer yarns. The yarn per inch increases from 64 to 67 in this new denim weave, covering almost all the white dots from the weft to create a deeper blue hue on the appearance. This further strengthened the impression of “TOKUNO BLUE” as the darkest denim blue on earth.
Ring Dye
Everybody heard of rope-dyed denim or rope-dyed jeans. But the real aim is to create the “Ring Dye” effect.
The "ring dye" effect is a hallmark of premium denim achieved through indigo rope dyeing, where dye coats only the outer layers of yarn fibers, leaving the white core exposed for iconic fading.
A regular indigo denim yarn is dipped 8-12 times in an indigo batch on average. Whilst some denim may be dipped 16-20 times. Momotaro is known for dyeing their yarn 29-30 times to create a super dark indigo blue.

Detail
Premium construction includes silky twill-lined waistband and pocket bags, peach/pink selvedge ID, steel button/zip flies, embossed hidden rivets, bartack reinforcements, chainstitched hems/seams, and an indigo-dyed cowhide leather patch — included all hallmarks of Okayama craftsmanship but decorated in an elevated way.
“
The point may not necessarily be the times a yarn has been dipped dyed, but rather the quality and gradation of the slowly penetrating indigo dye. We know that if you dip dye a cotton yarn too many times in an indigo dye bath, it can result in excessive dye accumulation and sticky surface. This is not ideal at all for denim weaving or aging ability. All in all, Momotaro somehow managed to achieve this dark indigo hue while preserving the abundance in blue gradience, making it one of the most sought after denim jeans on the market.

General Care
Never use tumble dry on quality goods; never use softener; never use detergent that contain bleach.
If possible, wash your cloth in a low-spin speed to prolong the garment life.
Please note that all indigo product including raw denim can “bleed” causing the transfer of indigo blue color from your garments to other surface like white tshirt or light color shoes. The “bleeding” will lessen with wear and after first several washes. Wash dark jeans with dark cloth to avoid issues.
