TANUKI
【TANUKI】"Yoroi" Heavy Canvas Utility Pants
Original fabric / woven, dyed, knitted, and sewn entirely by TANUKI / Official enzyme wash softens, shrink-resistant, 17oz thickness after washing .
Following the Yoroi jacket, Tanuki releases its first-ever non-denim trousers made from the same fabric. Military uniforms have always been a significant influence on Japanese fashion brands, inspiring Tanuki to create this masterpiece from one of the most iconic vintage elements: a pair of Yoroi military pants with a modern fit and classic, vintage-inspired details. It's a piece you'll want to pack up and wear regularly.
The 25OZ canvas, a top-tier canvas fabric for durability, never disappoints. "Yoroi" means armor in Japanese, meaning these armor-like canvas pants are built to last. They undergo a pre-waterproofing process and are treated with an environmentally friendly enzyme for near-perfect comfort. The warp and weft are dyed in the iconic olive green/khaki colors of military uniforms, allowing you to achieve a delicate olive green/golden brown gradation without spending a year or two. As the fabric gradually adapts to the wearer's body shape, the color changes over time, ensuring they remain reliably and reliably for years to come.
These military pants also retain the many details that symbolize Tanuki's highest quality: black copper hardware, embroidered logo on the back pocket and classic deerskin vegetable tanned leather patch. Two large pockets on the front and two button-style pockets on the back make them suitable for various occasions.
Two parallel lines, located on the sides of the back pocket, represent the number two (に) in Japanese kanji. The lower line represents the past, tradition, standards, and peace; the upper line represents the future, change, and strength. The red and blue lines of the logo are inspired by the Japanese flag and pay tribute to the denim artisans who laid the foundation for Tanuki. It is their tireless dedication, day after day, that gives Tanuki the power to look to the future and change the present.
"Autumn arrives, as the Yokai rise." Here's a quick twist on the classic Tanuki proverb: "Summer arrives, as the Yoroi rise." Let's look forward to Yoroi's performance this summer!
Fit.
Our utility pants come in a modern silhouette with a roomy top block, a shorter inseam, and a strong taper. Spacious back pockets with flap closure and slanted front pockets give you plenty of storage room.
Fabric.
The YOROI is our heaviest fabric, clocking in at 25oz, and will never let you down. YOROI means armour: it's tough as nails. You will find that these are a lot softer and comfortable than 25oz would suggest. It comes pre-washed with environmentally friendly enzymes which soften the fabric up and help the break-in process. Warp and weft are both dyed in olive, you can expect great fades quickly, and while this fabric slowly molds to your body, the color will age nicely, but these pants will be your sturdy companion for years to come.
