About Oka-zome Tea-Core / Hand-Dyeing

Oka-zome is a traditional hand-dyeing technique developed in the Santa Croce region of Italy during the 19th century.

It is known for its rich patina over time, along with a nuanced, vintage-like depth of color and natural leather character.

In an era where most leather is drum-dyed for a highly uniform finish, this kind of hand-dyed tea-core leather has become exceptionally rare and highly valued.

Natural Leather Characteristics

As this product is crafted from genuine leather, each piece will show unique variations in texture and character.

To preserve the raw, natural feel of real leather, natural marks such as scars, blood veins, neck wrinkles, color variations, and spots are intentionally left visible. Please enjoy these distinct markings as part of the leather’s unique story.

The Black colorway is also intentionally crafted to avoid a flat, uniform black finish. Through the Oka-zome process, rich tonal depth and subtle variation are preserved.

Depending on the section of the hide, faint undertones of deep espresso or bitter chocolate may show through. Please note that this is not a flat, solid black leather.
