The latest release from 20oz Oni Secret Denim arrives in a striking double black edition.
Despite its hefty 20oz weight, ONI Secret Denim surprises with an unexpectedly comfortable hand feel. Its unique texture—rough and rugged yet remarkably soft—results from the interplay of threads with varying thicknesses, achieved through the use of super slubby yarns. 

This kind of results were never acheived by others, hence it remains a secret of how ONI makes it incredibly heavy and soft at the same time. 

Unlike typical black denim, which often appears flat, the distinct texture of this fabric develops a captivating contrast as it wears in over time.

Rope Dyed Warp & Cheese Dyed Weft

The warp threads are rope-dyed using a sulfur-based black dye, creating a deep and rich black hue. Remarkably, only one dyeing facility is equipped to handle the exceptionally thick yarns used by ONI. However, this facility faces closure due to aging equipment and a shortage of skilled workers, which could mark the end of this original Black Secret Denim. As such, it’s likely that this denim will not be reproduced in the future.

The sulfur-black dyed weft threads, colored through cheese dyeing, come from another facility facing similar situations. This rarity, combined with the meticulous craftsmanship involved in each pair of jeans, makes the Black Secret Denim denim pieces truly valuable.

ONI 622 fit

The ONI 622 jeans fit is described as a relaxed tapered cut with a medium-low rise. It features roomy hips and thighs for comfort, then tapers strongly from the knee down to a narrow hem. The fit offers a modern silhouette that is flattering yet comfortable, suitable for various body types. It is not a vintage fit but more of a contemporary relaxed taper. 

How much does ONI 'Secret Denim' stretch in the waist?

ONI Secret Denim will stretch out fairly fast so you can expect it to stretch at least 1 inch after first day to 1 week of wear. It will stretch up to 2 inch in the waist with about 30 wears.

Go up at least 2 sizes from major US brands. Usually the same or go down 1 size from other Japanese brands.
