This style is crafted from ONI’s new 13.5oz long-slub denim. Despite its midweight construction, the fabric has a remarkably rough and irregular surface. Reminds us of the almost “demonic” texture expression found on ONI DENIM’s earliest jeans models from 25 years ago.

Unlike most commercial denim today, where the slubiness often appears as finer vertical streaks. The LS13.5 fabric features a far more irregular and organic surface. Conventional modern denim is typically softer to the touch with less variation, resulting in a look that feels more contemporary rather than the vintage aesthetic of early American denim. 

For this long-slub denim, ONI utilizes thicker long-slub yarns in both the vertical indigo warp and horizontal white weft. This creates a subtle crosshatch texture reminiscent of early American denim. 

Because the fabric is slowly woven on traditional vintage power looms at the extremely low tension ONI is known for, it achieves an unusually pronounced surface with dramatic highs and lows.

At 13.5oz, the denim is still at a comfortable midweight level that works well year-round. When looking up close, the texture is anything but sublime.

What is Slub in Denim?

ONI 270 Fit

Updated from the ONI 288 fit, the new 270 fit is a regular straight cut with a comfortable high rise. The rise is slightly higher compared to the 288.

It offers a classic, timeless silhouette with a bit more room in the thigh than the 288, flowing straight down from the knee. The leg opening is slightly narrower than the 288, creating a subtle tapered effect while still keeping a clean straight look.

The 270 is versatile enough for both smart and casual styling, and pairs well with almost any type of shoes. It has a relaxed but tailored look that suits most body types.

How much does ONI stretch in the waist?

ONI will stretch out fairly fast so you can expect it to stretch at least 1 inch after first day to 1 week of wear. Most ONI will stretch up to 1.5 inch or more in the waist with about 30 wears depends on the fabric.

Go up at least 2 sizes from major US brands. Usually the same or go down 1 size from other Japanese brands.
