ONI Denim once again lifts the veil of the demon with a new creation, the ONI Nep Denim. Returning to its roots, the latest fabric recalls the demon’s face of Japanese folklore. ONI has long been renowned for reinventing denim with ultra-low tension weaving and uniquely unconventional perspectives. In the past decade, we’ve rarely seen such an intriguing “Nep Denim.”
What is Nep Denim?
Originally considered a flaw or imperfection from the spinning or weaving process, neps are now prized for their vintage authenticity and added visual character. Nep fibers are often broken or tangled short fibers that protrude from the fabric surface This type of fabric is defined by its visual “neppy” flecks or clumps. Traditionally, it has been used in vintage painter’s pants, naval denim trousers, work jackets, and shirts. In the early times it is usually woven in lighter weights and tends to have a smooth hand feel.
What makes ONI’s version innovative is that the fabric not only carries this irregular visual character, but its texture itself is rugged and uneven, almost like granite stone. You can easily imagine the fabric developing rich layers of indigo fades over time. At 13.7oz, this balanced weight allows wearers to enjoy the charm of this rough-textured fabric with ease.
ONI 266 fit
The 266 fit is a relaxed straight cut, offering a comfortable and slightly more generous fit in the thigh compared to the 288. It maintains a clean silhouette with a straight leg shape that is neither tapered nor wide, making it suitable for those wanting a classic but less constricting fit.
How much does ONI stretch in the waist?
Typically 1.5 inch~4cm in waist circumference. Some can stretch up to 2 inch~5cm. Basically you can expect them to stretch half size more than other Japanese jeans brands. If you have a tummy / belly, go for a safe size. If you’re lean in the stomach, go for a more fitted one.
ONI jeans general size recommendation
Go up at least 2 sizes from US brands. Usually the same or go down 1 size from other Japanese brands.

Hemming will take 3~4 working days.
Once an item is been hemmed, it will not be eligible for return or refund.
For the length on sanforized raw denim, it is recommend to add 2-3cm in length considering the shrinkage after first wash.
For unsanforized denim, we normally would offer them in rinsed condition, hence there is no need to consider shrinkage.
