This jacket is made from a new 12oz denim, one of the lightest fabric amongst the ONI's creations.

Despite the lightweight, the fabric has a distinctive rough texture -- almost felt like a thin sandpaper. This gives the fabric a presence rarely found in light-ounce denim.

The fabric is made from 12oz loose-weave denim, woven loosely at low tension with slub yarns of varying thicknesses. The interesting thing about this is that it adjust the warp and weft to an unordinary density, which creates more room in between yarns. The result is a denim that let the air flow through the surface onto your body when facing wind or during movement. 

It is a lightweight denim with real character, balancing rough texture, softness, and the unmistakable presence that makes ONI DENIM so special.

“With Japan’s old-school denim mills running at full capacity in recent years, ONI worked with their longtime partner Kuroki to develop this lightweight, non-selvedge denim. The weave is based on a similar concept to their popular ‘Kiraku’ denim.

It’s not only lightweight. The unique weave structure allows air to actually pass through the fabric, giving it exceptional breathability.

This could be the ideal pair of summer jeans, especially for customers from Southeast Asia. Even when a heat wave hits, you might still be able to stay chill (prob not cool) in a pair of LWD jeans.”
