Double Helix
【Double Helix】Western Pioneer Black Teacore Horsehide with Pockets
Description
Western Pioneer is one of the most iconic denim-jacket-inspired designs, and it remains extremely popular among young riders and enthusiasts today. For the inverted-triangle front panel—a defining feature—Double Helix approaches it with a unique understanding: the tip of the triangle must be fully preserved and seamlessly connected to the hem strap.
As a horsehide jacket, the stitching around these thick overlapping layers requires highly advanced craftsmanship. Yet, this challenge results in a jacket with a clean, cohesive appearance and a striking silhouette that feels more dynamic and expressive when worn.
Semi-Aniline Tea Core Horsehide
This horsehide features a brown “tea core”, a characteristic often associated with classic rider jackets. Since the leather is not dyed all the way through, the brown core gradually emerges on the surface as the jacket ages, creating a rich and authentic patina.
To achieve a deep black surface, pigments must be added to the lacquer; without them, the leather would appear brown. However, adding too much pigment results in a flat, chalky black that lacks depth and transparency.
For Double Helix, only carefully selected hides are used, and pigment is added in the minimum necessary amount to ensure a supple, deep black finish that still allows the tea core to age beautifully.
Technically, adding even a small amount of pigment means the leather is no longer fully aniline, but semi-aniline—hence the designation “Semi Aniline” in Double Helix’s specifications.

General Care & Precautions
Please note that all indigo product including raw denim can “bleed” causing the transfer of indigo blue color from your garments to other surface like white tshirt or light color shoes. The “bleeding” will lessen with wear and after first several washes.
We high recommend you to put all your cloth in a wash bag when doing laundry. Please never use tumble dry on quality goods; never use softener; never use detergent that contain bleach.
If possible, wash your cloth in a low-spin speed to protect the garment.
