ONI DENIM
【ONI DENIM】900HM-60XX Handmade 60s Denim Wide Straight Jeans
Description
The latest ONI creation looks back to where it all started 50 years ago. That's when ONI's designer Oishi-san got his first job at Levi's Japan. In a couple years he became the top sales in the country and was rewarded a trip to San Francisco, where he visited the largest workwear / jeans store at the time. In 1960s - 70s all shrink-to-fit denim Levi's used were exclusively supplied by Cone Mill from Greensboro in North Carolina. The White Oak plant from Cone Mill since then became the heart of American-made vintage denim.
Since lots of the production blueprints and documents were lost in fire / history events. No one knows exactly how many types of fabric were made back then. We were told millions of pairs of jeans were produced in the US every year in that time period. So reproducing any pair of denim from the time could be an interesting journey. The fabric used in this jeans is a reproduction of denim from the 60s, with a slightly lighter indigo hue that looks like a White Oak selvedge denim. The fabric like these are extra durable when reinforced with rivets. Hence they were named "XX" as in extra extra durable in the first place.
Handmade Details
In the late 19th century before the rivets were used on jeans for reinforcement. Worker jeans are sewn with multiple stitching lines to reinforce stress points. The 900HM (hand made) jeans are created with this in mind. The result is a pair that not only looks old but also feels old.
What is Cone Denim / White Oak denim?
White Oak is a plant under Cone Denim, both are real parts of American jeans history. White Oak opened in 1905 and supplied denim to major American jeans brands for more than a hundred years.

ONI 900 Fit
Based on the ONI 200 fit, 900 is a twin fit that features handmade details inspired from the old miner jeans. The 200 sits in a sweet spot between the popular regular straight 288 and the wide straight 222.
With a traditional high-rise and wide straight leg, the 200 focuses on a classic silhouette. It also removes the N-shaped arcuate stitching from the back pockets, giving the jeans a cleaner and more minimal look while making them easier to style with different pieces.
The wider cut provides plenty of room for movement and helps reduce discomfort in humid, warm weather. If you are new to wide jeans, the 200 offers a relaxed yet easy-to-wear introduction to the fit.
How Much Does 60XX Stretch in the Waist?
As this denim is not ultra low tension, expect it to stretch 1-1.5 inches ~ 3-4cm in the waistband.
ONI Denim 60XX Size Recommendation
Go up at least 1 size from major US brands. Usually, choose the same size or go down 1 size from other Japanese brands.

General Care & Precautions
Please note that all indigo product including raw denim can “bleed” causing the transfer of indigo blue color from your garments to other surface like white tshirt or light color shoes. The “bleeding” will lessen with wear and after first several washes.
We high recommend you to put all your cloth in a wash bag when doing laundry. Please never use tumble dry on quality goods; never use softener; never use detergent that contain bleach.
If possible, wash your cloth in a low-spin speed to protect the garment.
