"Tanuki Kakishibu"

For quite some time, Tanuki fans have been eagerly requesting a Kakishibu-dyed denim. In response, Tanuki has created a pair of Kakishibu (persimmon) dyed jeans that stand apart from any other natural-dyed denim released before. The persimmon-colored weft is notably more saturated, carefully avoiding the muted tones seen in previous industry releases. Over time, through daily wear, exposure to sunlight, and air, this denim evolves in both the warp and weft simultaneously. The kakishibu dye interacts with denim by tinting wear areas with reddish-brown highlights as the indigo fades, resulting in remarkable contrast and depth.

Texas & Australian cotton

While Texas cotton is commonly used in selvedge denim to emphasize ruggedness or replicate the original American denim's rough hand feel, Tanuki consistently seeks innovation through the use of various cotton types. In this case, an Australian cotton, often found in high-end bedding sets, is blended into the denim. The result is a fabric that strikes a perfect balance—rugged yet soft—combining the best of both worlds.

Extreme Low Tension

Fabrics in Tanuki's denim collection are crafted using a technique that is known, yet hasn't been employed in over 30 years. The result is a denim with a unique hand feel and wearing experience that is unmatched by others. One of the most noticeable features is its air-ventilating quality when exposed to wind. The air flows easily through the fabric to reach your skin. This gives all Tanuki denim a lighter feel than the specified weight (oz).

Fit
The Tanuki High Tapered fit offers a high-waist, relaxed tapered silhouette, providing ample room in the top block to accommodate stronger thighs. It tapers moderately from the thigh down to the hem. The leg opening has a slim but yet versatile width which is wide enough to pair well with both sneakers and boots.
