【3sixteen】 Shop Jacket Wide Wale Cord
DETAILS
They're made from corduroy, a fabric with a rich history. While its soft texture may conjure up associations with luxury, its modern roots are in the working class wear in the North of England during the Industrial Revolution in the 1800s, where it was valued for its durability and ease of care. Like so many other fabrics that we're drawn to working with, it will age well as it goes the distance.
This particular corduroy measures 8 wales and is made in Japan. Wales are units of corduroy measurement that designate the number of ridges, or wales, per inch. The lower the number, the thicker the wale; 8 is definitely on the wider side. To showcase it, we chose two styles that come from a working past. The first is our Shop Jacket, based on the French bleu de travail - which is like the chore coat's European cousin. It's a light jacket that's perfect for layering (over a shirt / hoodie, under a parka), and has become a reliable part of our fall seasonal collections.
