leather
Compared to the black tea core leather, this shoe uses different tannins and dyes, which will give the leather a more subtle aging effect over time.
"This season, we developed a new leather to allow everyone to understand and enjoy the changes and depth that leather brings over time." - Brother Bridge
This is original calfskin tanned in Himeji, Japan's traditional leather production center. The raw hide is high-quality calfskin from the Netherlands, using traditional tannin tanning techniques. While Brother Bridge is very particular about the selection of raw hides, they place even greater emphasis on the tanning process and dyeing.
Chrome tanned leather and pigment treatments generally provide a uniform and stable surface, but are less resistant to changes over time, whereas tannin tanned leathers react to their ingredients, increasing in sheen over time and retaining wrinkle properties.
Tannin-tanned leather tends to be slightly harder due to its characteristics, but Brother Bridge carefully selects leather factories (tanneries) with years of experience and uses unique water quality to produce a softer tannin-tanned leather. This leather is more commonly used in women's shoes and is a very rare and rugged leather type.
Furthermore, to make the leather more susceptible to ageing with use, Brother Bridge only uses dye for surface treatment, which allows care oils to penetrate more easily and the leather will darken with care, creating a beautiful aged look.
Although this is a time-consuming tanning method, Brother Bridge hopes that with calfskin leather, customers will enjoy the leather changing over time.
