The Kiwami Denim 鬼極 can be seen as the advancement of Kase Denim. The ambition is to create a fadable natural indigo rope dyed denim that mimics the look of a hank dye denim. At the same time producing an irregular fading ability for both the color and the texture, creating an exceptional vertical fading effect with the unique gradient / shades of blue that is exclusive to the natural indigo dyed yarn. Condensing the best technology and innovations. This is by far one of the 3 proudest creation by Mr. Oishi in his career.

Texture
Kiwami is a 16oz slubby denim constructed in very low tension. Resulting in a rigid and organic hand feel while giving the wearer unexpected comfort, a signature feature of ONI’s works.

Color
Kiwami Denim is dyed with natural indigo rope dyeing method, with the yarn color and weave designed to be on par with the Tokushima genuine natural indigo hand dyed denim (Awa-Shoai 阿波正藍). The distinct character of natural indigo dyed is the vast range of blue it can produce and will become after broken-in.

Fading
Kiwami is a rope dyed denim that is specially made to look like a hank dyed denim. With the expert weaving artisans arranging all the yarns in a nuance gradation, it requires extensive consideration and labor to achieve the desired effect. With regular hank dye yarn the indigo was penetrated all the way through the core of the cotton yarn, leaving no room for white or fading potential. A rope dyed denim on the other hand, is the known secret to produce an authentic wearing experience / authentic aging look.

Although most premium denim were made with rope dyeing, it is ultra rare for a brand to be able to produce a natural indigo rope dyed denim due to its high hurdle of finding a capable supplier.

The greater the challenges, the better the results. Through years of research and development, Kiwami Denim is proudly presented and beloved by many.

However, this is still achieved by Mr Oishi, an incredibly rare and state-of-the-art denim created.
