Fabric.

Miyabi ( Ya )

This one is special for us because it has been in the work forever. The MIYABI (雅) fabric is an updated version of the Earth fabric. This fabric clocks in at 18.7oz and packs quite a few features. First of all, we used unbleached organic Peruvian cotton for the weft which has a great feel. Combining that with a warp consists of Texas and Californian cotton gives us a texture that is stiff and crips, almost like paper, has a lot of fuzziness. There is a lot of slub happening here which allows for some of the off-white weft to peak through the surface. If you look closer, you will see different variations of blue hues. For this fabric, we used a combination of natural and pure indigo which will result in some beautiful fades.

The Earth fabric was a massive success for us and for various reasons, we could not bring it back as some of the cotton from the first run isn't available anymore and the factory that spun the yarn has been destroyed. We have worked on this fabric for over 3 years, this is why we call it Miyabi which stands for elegance, grace, but also refinement (also on a spiritual level). The Miyabi fabric is a true labor of love and we are sure your customers will be happy to Finally get a chance to get their hands on a new version of the Earth Fabric.

Fabric introduction.

The fabric " MIYABI" is a masterpiece developed by Tanuki for half a lifetime. It is a new work developed based on the fabric " Earth" . The launch of the 18oz " Earth " fabric shocked Europe and the United States. In the world of denim, four different varieties of American cotton are mixed and dyed with four different indigo dyes. And this " elegant " fabric is also unique. First, the inner surface is made of ultra-long fiber cotton from Peru. The undyed weft thread feels comfortable and natural in color, and the warp thread on the outside is blended with Texas and California cotton from the United States. Its surface texture is crunchy and stiff, almost giving the illusion of cardboard, yet full of fur. The random bumpy slub feel of the whole piece makes the weft threads on the inner surface explode out of cotton wool irregularly. This fabric is dyed with a combination of two indigo dyes, namely natural indigo dye and pure synthetic indigo dye. If you look closely, you will find different indigo dye tones, and the color fading is extremely beautiful.

The " Earth " fabric has become one of Tanuki's most successful fabrics due to various reasons, but it is a pity that there is no way to reprint it. The reason is that the cotton used at that time cannot be found in the market now, and the cotton thread factory for spinning has been sold out. Destroyed in a previous accident. We have been developing this new " elegant " fabric for three years, which is why we named it " elegant " , which means high-end and elegant, and also represents material and spiritual refinement.
